Bayerisches Landeskriminalamt (BLKA) is the State police force of the German state of Bavaria, with its headquarter in Munich. It is comprising of six departments and counts on 1882 employees, of whom approximately 52% are sworn police officers, 21% are other civil servants (e.g. lawyers, IT specialists, administrative officers, engineers, etc), 27% are salaried employees and 3% are scientists or lab technicians.

Having an expertise covering 85 different fields, its responsibilities are wide. Amongst them: forensic examinations, searches and queries, analyses, services supporting investigations (e.g. dealing with explosives, nuclear and radioactive material, counterfeit means of payment, arms and drugs trafficking, certain cases of politically motivated crime, corruption and environmental crime).
